PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress generation of a deviation of color registration. SOLUTION: The color thermal printer is constituted by setting a yellow printing part 18, a magenta printing part 36 and a cyan printing part 51 sequentially along a transfer route of a recording paper 2, and also fitting encoders 22 and 44 at platen rollers 20 and 38 of the yellow printing part 18 and the magenta printing part 36, respectively. The color thermal printer detects a feed rate variation amount of the recording paper 2 on the basis of outputs of the encoders 22 and 44, and at the same time obtains a feeding correction amount from the feed rate variation amount on the basis of the relation between the feed rate variation amount and the feeding correction amount. In the color thermal printer, the feeding correction amount is serially integrated, and a recording start position of the next color is corrected on the basis of an integrated feeding correction amount of a recording area. Thus the generation of the registration deviation resulting from a slight thermal deformation of the platen rollers 22 and 44 can be suppressed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
