PURPOSE: A brake pedal for a vehicle is provided to prevent a driver's foot from being caught under the brake pedal during braking. CONSTITUTION: A brake pedal for a vehicle comprises a pedal arm(52) one end of which is installed to a dash panel in a rotatable state in the forward and backward direction; a footboard(54) on which a driver's foot is put; a hinge shaft(56) preventing a driver's foot from being caught to the footboard by supporting the footboard on the pedal arm in a rotatable state in the vertical direction; and an elastic member(58) installed between the pedal arm and the footboard. The pedal arm transmits driver's leg power to a brake. The footboard is installed to the other end of the pedal arm. The elastic member returns the footboard to the original state. The ends of the hinge shaft are each fixed to a pair of bosses(51) formed to the other end of the pedal arm in a standoff state in the forward and backward direction.
