A method for decreasing loss of weight provides for preparation of fine-dispersed frost crystals in air cooler, with bringing those by air flow and with washing by two-phase flow (air and frost crystals) the product being frozen. At contact of the frost crystals with the warm product coming to the freezing chamber melting of those takes place with formation of thin water film on the surface, this at following cooling is frozen and prevents evaporation of moisture of the product itself at freezing and keeping it. The appliance for decreasing loss of weight has a heat-insulated chamber, conveyor band for the product, swirl air coolers with the mechanism of frost purification, axial fans, those swirl the air flow; in the upper part of the friction chamber it has a transverse partition. This group of the inventions provides decrease of loss of weight at freezing foodstuff, intensification of the processes of heat and mass exchange with decrease of overall dimensions of the units.
