The fixing device has a U-shaped holder (9) with 2 side arms (16,17) and a coupling limb (8) to which one end of a mantle sleeve (1) is secured so that it extends in the opposite direction to the side arms, a fixing flange (12) provided at the other end (6) of the mantle sleeve, at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the latter. The U-shaped holder is provided as a single deep-drawn component, both the side arms and the coupling limb having a U-shaped cross-sectional profile. An independent claim for a manufacturing method for a fixing device for a steering mechanism is also included.
