PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rainwater pit which can effectively prevent the breeding of mosquitoes without adversely affecting an environment. SOLUTION: In the rainwater pit, a pit body 21 is installed midway through drain pipes 23-26; a pit cover (screen) 22 for passing rainwater is attached to an upper part of the pit body 21; and a breeding-of-mosquito preventing device 35 for preventing the breeding of the mosquitoes is attached below the pit cover 22. This device 35 is composed of electrodes 51 and 51 for electric discharge, which are provided in a reservoir part 44 of a bottom 41 of the pit body 21, a control unit (discharge voltage generating means) 59 which is provided in the pit body 21 so as to apply a voltage to the electrodes 51 and 51, and a solar battery (power source) 28 which is provided outside the pit body 21 so as to supply electric power to the control unit 59.
