A target detecting device for efficiently detecting any type of target such as protein without attaching a marker such as a fluorescent marker. The target detecting device comprises a target capturer including at least at a part a portion interactive with a conductive member, connective to a target, and emissive when illuminated with light and when not interacting with the conductive member, target capturer releasing means for releasing the target capturer interacting with the conductive member from the conductive member by ceasing the interaction, light illuminating means for illuminating the conductive member with light, and light detecting means for detecting light emitted from the target capturer when illuminated with light from the light illuminating means. A target capturer is also disclosed which comprises an interaction portion including at least at a part a portion interactive with a conductive member, a target capturing portion capable of capturing a target, and an emitting portion emissive when illuminated with light and when the portion of the interaction portion is not interacting with the conductive member.
