PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cover member constituted so as to enhance the developability of a sample solution when the sample solution is brought into contact with a microarray. SOLUTION: The cover member is installed on a solid-state substrate in order not only to keep the thickness of a liquid layer constant when a liquid is held on the solid-state substrate but also to prevent the evaporation of the liquid and a means for enhancing the wetting properties with the liquid is applied to the surface of the cover member. The wetting property enhancing means is preferably applied in order to make the surface of the cover member rough, to provide a fine groove-like structure on the surface of the cover member and to hydrophilize the surface of the cover member.
