<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cross dichroic mirror which is easily manufactured and has complete accuracy, and a projector using the cross dichroic mirror. <P>SOLUTION: Light source light from a light source lamp 21 is uniformized by passing through a fly-eye optical system 23, and is color-resolved to three colors RGB by the cross dichroic mirror 25. Respective color liquid crystal light valves 31a, 31b and 31c are illuminated with the illuminating light color-resolved in such a way. The illuminating light modulated by the light valves 31a, 31b and 31c, that is, image light is composed by the cross dichroic mirror 33 and made incident on a projection lens 35. Since the light B from the lamp 21 is prevented from being leaked to the light valve 31b or the like in such a case, irregular color is prevented from occurring on a color image projected on a screen, and unnecessary heat generation is prevented, whereby efficient illumination is realized. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
