PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for assembling an optical connector in which an optical fiber can always smoothly be inserted even when components held by component holders are arranged mutually at intervals in the inserting direction of the optical fiber, and to provide the component holders used for same, and the optical connector. SOLUTION: A component holder 13 composed of a heat-shrinkable tube holds a boot 1 and a component assembly 12 at an interval A in the inserting direction of the optical fiber and after a diameter reduction part 13b formed through heat shrinkage of the component holder 13 is formed between the boot 1 and component assembly 12 of the component holder 13, the optical fiber 10 is inserted into the boot 1 and component holder 12 in the component holder 13, so that the tip of the optical fiber 10 can be guided toward the radial center of the component holder 13 and the optical fiber 10 can easily be inserted without abutting against an edge of the component assembly 12.
