PURPOSE: A water treatment composition is provided which is more environmentally friendly and safer to the human body and has superior control capacity of environmental factors compared with an existing water treatment composition using chemical synthetic materials, and a water treatment method using the same is provided. CONSTITUTION: The composition comprises a viscous substance produced by Paenibacillus kribbensis AP-2 (KCTC 10421BP), wherein the composition further comprises one or more materials selected from alum, polyaluminum chloride (PAC) and polyaluminum chloride silica (PACS). The composition is used to remove heavy metal ions contained in water system to be treated, and wherein the heavy metal ions are aluminum ions (Al¬+3) or copper ions (Cu¬+2).
