PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ball bearing unit with encoder for contributing to simplification of manufacturing operation and also product cost reduction without requiring excessive capital investment or excessive transfer cost. SOLUTION: In this ball bearing unit, a mandrel 21 is externally engaged to be fixed in the end of an inner rotary ring 1. On the side face of a loop 26 composing this mandrel 21, an encoder 20 is mounted. This encoder 20 comprises a rubber plate containing magnetic anisotropy mixed with magnetic material powder aligned in orientation, which is circularly cut to be magnetized with its S pole and N pole alternately arranged in circumference direction. This eliminates the need for providing seal manufacturers with any magnetic device or for allowing reciprocation of components between magnet manufacturers and sealant manufacturers.
