PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new photocurable and polymerizable compound having a norbornene skeleton having various advantages on a main chain and to provide a method for producing the compound. SOLUTION: The method for producing the polymerizable compound comprises reacting an oligomer obtained by polymerizing 5-norbornene-2,3-carboxylic anhydride with an alcohol having an acryloyl group, a methacryloyl group or a vinyl ether group in the molecule or reacting the oligomer obtained by polymerizing the 5-norbornene-2,3-carboxylic anhydride with the alcohol having the acryloyl group, the methacryloyl group or the vinyl ether group and a primary or secondary alcohol.
