PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire capable of effectively reducing noise due to columnar resonance of a peripheral direction groove. SOLUTION: The peripheral direction groove 2 extended on a tread surface 1 in the tire peripheral direction T is connectedly constituted so that the sectional area of a plurality of peripheral direction groove parts 2X having different groove sectional areas changes in a square wave shape. The peripheral direction length m of respective peripheral direction groove parts 2X is L/3≤m≤L with respect to the peripheral direction grounding length L in the peripheral groove position of the tread surface 1, and the ratio r of large and small of the groove sectional direction among the adjacent peripheral direction groove parts 2X is within the range of 1.02≤r≤1.60.
