PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garbage disposal method and an apparatus finding a moisture content of the disposing object accurately and inexpensively, without using a moisture sensor. SOLUTION: This garbage disposal apparatus is equipped with a disposal part disposing the garbage by decomposing it, a recovering part recovering the decomposed object, and a deodorizing/exhausting part deodorizing the odor from the disposal part or recovering part and exhausting. A disposal tank containing the garbage is provided to the disposal part, and a disposal tank heating means is provided for heating/controlling the tank. A temperature sensor is disposed at the vicinity of an external air sucking port of the deodorizing/exhausting part. From a relation of the sucked air temperature measured by the temperature sensor to ON/OFF operation of the disposal tank heating means, a moisture content of the contained object in the disposal tank is found.
