The reserve battery has an anode (20) and a cathode (10) separated by a free space for reception of an electrolyte, e.g. a body fluid, both electrodes provided by thin-film layers applied to a substrate (1). The electrodes may be provided with interdigitated electrode fingers (11,11',..; 21,21',..) arranged parallel to one another, or alternatively the anode and cathode are provided by 2 parallel electrode fingers. Also included are Independent claims for the following: (a) a manufacturing method for a reserve battery; and (b) an operating method for a reserve battery.
