PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter medium for water treatment mainly comprising manganese dioxide which removes a color of a humic material contained in underground water, and a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: A mixed solution ofβ-manganese dioxide andγ-manganese dioxide contained at a specified ratio is heated under a condition where the mixed solution covers a particulate core material consisting of a heat-resistant material, which removes water from the mixed liquid to clad the manganese dioxides on the core material.
