METHOD FOR THE PYROMETALLURGICAL TREATMENT OF METALS, METAL MELTS AND/OR SLAGS AND INJECTION DEVICE

Electric arc furnace has a injector (1) applying a pyrometric treatment to molten metal by the pulse emission of oxygen-rich gas (6) at supersonic speed. The gas is emitted at high speed (6') and impinged on the molten metal, first breaking through a hot gaseous focussing mantle (5) around the molten metal. The relative speed and the impulse-exchange between the central high-speed oxygen-rich gas and the mantle gas are minimized (isokinetic presentation). The oxygen-rich gas is delivered by a Laval jet at a speed of 300-850 m/s. The oxygen-rich gas is applied with minimum loss of impulse.
