<p>The heat-sensitive recording material of the present invention has a substrate and a heat-sensitive recording layer provided thereon, the layer including an electron-donating colorless dye and an electron-accepting compound. The electron-accepting compound is a compound represented by R<1>-Ph-SO2R<2>, wherein R<1> represents a hydroxyl group or an alkyl group, R<2> represents -Ph, -NH-Ph, -Ph-OR<3> or -NH-CO-NH-Ph, R<3> represents an alkyl group, and Ph represents a (substituted) phenyl group. The recording material satisfies one of the following conditions: the density of an image portion that has been irradiated with a fluorescent lamp at 500,000 Lux.h is retained at a rate of not less than 80% relative to that of the image portion before irradiation; the volume mean diameter of the electron-accepting compound is not more than 1.0 mu m, and the whiteness degree of a non-image portion is 75% to 90%, and a level of density of an image portion, which has been retained under specific conditions, is not more than 50% lower than that of the image portion before retention; and a level of density of a formed image, which has been left under specific conditions, is not more than 50% lower than that of the formed image before leaving and a sensitizer is a specific compound. The invention also provides a heat-sensitive recording material wherein a level of density of a formed image, which has been left under specific conditions, is not more than 50% lower than that of the formed image before leaving and the image density after a heat source has been brought into contact with the heat-sensitive recording material at 70 DEG C for 5 seconds is not more than 0.15.</p> |
