IPS MODE LCD AND FABRICATING METHOD THEREOF TO SIMPLIFY THE STRUCTURE

PURPOSE: An IPS(In Plane Switching) mode LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a fabricating method thereof are provided to simplify the structure and process of a TFT(Thin Film Transistor) array substrate by fabricating the TFT array substrate through the third mask process. CONSTITUTION: A common line(116) is horizontally formed with a gate line. A data line(104) insulated and crossed with the gate line and the common line determines a pixel region. A TFT is formed in a cross part of the gate line and the data line. A common electrode(118) is formed in the pixel region, and is connected with the common line. A pixel electrode(114) is connected with the TFT, and is formed in the pixel region to form a lateral electric field with the common electrode. A gate pad(124) is formed as at least one conductive layer included in the gate line. A data pad(130) is formed as at least one conductive layer included in the data line. A common pad(136) is formed as at least one conductive layer included in the common line. A protective film(152) exposes at least one of the gate pad, the data pad and the common pad. A drive IC mounted on a substrate(145) is connected with at least one of the gate pad the data pad.
