PURPOSE: A portable electronic apparatus and a battery are provided to display information on a remaining power of the battery accurately and efficiently irrespectively of the kind of the battery used. CONSTITUTION: A portable electronic appliance is capable of using a battery(16) as a power source and includes a reader(20), a recognizer(22), an alarming display(26), and an alarm generator. The reader reads information on the battery stored in a wireless tag(32) provided on the battery. The recognizer recognizes the information on the battery read by the reader. The alarm display displays a battery shortage alarm. The alarm generator generates the battery shortage alarm according to the information recognized by the recognizer and sends the generated information to the alarm display.
