Methods and systems for preparing blood products that are ready for treatment in established pathogen inactivation procedures are disclosed. The methoids include providing a source of a blood component and combining the blood component with a synthetic medium in a selected ratio of the blood component to the synthetic media, whereby the resulting blood product is treatment-ready.
