SYSTEM FOR MEASURING CASTING WIDTH AND TAPER ANGLE OF INNER PART OF MOLD

PURPOSE: A system for measuring casting width and taper angle of inner part of mold is provided to prevent defects of slab size by accurately measuring casting width and taper angle of the inner part of the mold required according to desired slab size. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises a sensor part installed at the center of an inner part of the mold to detect casting width (W) of the mold by projecting laser onto both wall surfaces of the mold and receiving laser reflected on the wall surfaces of the mold; a sensor driving part(20) connected to the sensor part by rotational gear to move the sensor part up and down in the mold according to the number of revolutions of the rotational gear; a moving distance calculation part(30) for converting the number of revolutions of motor of the sensor driving part into vertical moving distance (L) of the sensor part; and a taper angle calculation part(40) for calculating taper angle (theta) of the mold by the following mathematical expression: theta=tan¬-1(W0/2)/L by receiving the moving distance (L) of the moving distance calculation part and the casting width (W) of the sensor part and computing casting width (W0) corresponding to the moving distance (L), wherein the system further comprises a display part(50) for displaying the casting width (W) of the sensor part and the taper angle (theta) of the taper angle calculation part so that operators are capable of being acquainted with them.
