PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means that can record and reproduce data even if address errors are contained due to disk defects. SOLUTION: The optical disk has the address information given to each first recording area set up on the track and records and reproduces the data in the units of second recording areas consisting of a plurality of the first recording areas. The optical disk unit counts the number of the addresses discriminated to be normal in the address information given to each of the plurality of the first recording areas composing the second recording area, and has a control means to perform control of recording and reproducing of the data on the optical disk by comparing the number thus obtained with the predetermined threshold.
