PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type video display device capable of surely preventing the occurrence of a double image. SOLUTION: A 1st luminous flux generation part 12 generating 1st luminous flux and a 2nd luminous flux generation part 13 generating 2nd luminous flux are arranged on the light emitting side of a lamp 11. The luminous flux generation part 12 (13) is equipped with a condensing lens 12a (13a), a rod integrator 12b (13b) and a pair of lenses 12c-12d (13c-13d). The light passing through a pair of lenses 12c-12d/13c-13d is refracted by condenser lenses 15-16, and guided to the 1st area and the 2nd area of a liquid crystal display panel 31 so as to cross with the optical surface of a color separating and composing means 50.
