APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR COMPENSATING FREQUENCY OFFSET IN MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for compensating frequency offset contained in a receiving signal from a receiver of a mobile communication system.

SOLUTION: A training sequence inserted in a line of data symbols is down-converted to output an in-phase channel signal and a quadrature-phase channel signal, from addition and subtraction of which a sine-wave component and a cosine-wave component are obtained. Based on the sine-wave components and the cosine-wave components obtained at mutually different two time points, first and second phase values are obtained from the tangent-wave components at the two time points. Since the frequency offset is calculated from the slope of the secondary linear line drawn by the first and the second phase values, the frequency offset can be compensated for the received signal.
