PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine for cutting a stalk of a crop, having a compact body structure enabling a small turn to be made easily, enabling the stem-reaped crop to be taken up by an operator for efficient operation, and preventing stubble remaining in the field after cutting from contacting with the bottom part of the machine body to enable light traveling for opeartion. SOLUTION: A pedestal 31 capable of supporting the lower end part of the stem T of the crop discharged from a nipping and conveying terminal end part 5E of a nipping and conveying device 5 is arranged at the lower part of the nipping and conveying terminal end part 5E of the nipping and conveying device 5, and the power taken out from an upper part above the upper surface of the pedestal 31 of a transmission case 8 is transmitted to a first transmission part 35 for transmitting the power to the lower part of the pedestal 31, and driving shafts 28a and 28a installed in the rear part of the nipping and conveying device 5 through a second transmitting part 36 for transmitting the power from the lower part of the lower transmission part 35 through a lower part of the pedestal 31.
