摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To practically enable wavelength sensing to ultraviolet light specifically by attaining improvement of twin control and twin growth at a high aspect ratio in a quartz crystal. <P>SOLUTION: A pseudo-phase matching sensing element makes a base material of the quartz crystal cyclically induce the twin by applying stress. The boundary face of the twin is in a face including the Y axis of the quartz, and the cyclic twin is formed in the Z-axis direction of the quartz crystal. When an angle making the Z-axis direction of the quartz crystal and an incident vector of fundamental wave light is &alpha;, &alpha; is within 30 degrees.
