PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To judge presence/non-presence of an echo in a voice communication signal from the results obtained by monitoring the outgoing portion of the voice communication signal, also monitoring the incoming portion of the voice communication signal, further matching the outgoing signal and the incoming signal, and implementing a correlative procedure in a communication system under operation. SOLUTION: In echo detection and monitoring systems, the outgoing and incoming voice channels of a voice communication are monitored. The outgoing and incoming signals are compared in timing, and measures are then taken to determine whether echo is in the signal or not.
