PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling a dual fuel engine, positively using low calorie fuel while preventing misfire and deterioration of performance of an engine. SOLUTION: In the case that the engine is driven by mixed fuel prepared by mixing with each other gas oil and fuel gas whose individual heating value is insufficient in comparison with gas oil and heating value itself is fluctuated, a supply amount of low calorie fuel is controlled by an A/F valve 59 so that a rack position having a correlation with the fuel gas heating value when the driving load of the engine is constant is stabled. The opening of a throttle valve 4 is controlled based on the detection value of an exhaust temperature sensor 16 so that a fuel gas supply amount by the A/F valve 4 falls in a constant range.
