PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively reduce the enlarging of an optical deflector by making the optical deflector common to the luminous fluxes with which a plurality of planes to be scanned are scanned and to easily and surely separate the optical paths of respective deflected luminous fluxes with a mirror. SOLUTION: In an optical scanning device in which N luminous fluxes emitted from a plurality of light sources are deflected with a common optical deflector 1, guided to M planes to be scanned 3Y through 3K and focused as an optical spot on respective planes to be scanned with M (N≥M≥2) sets of scanning optical systems, and the M planes to be scanned are scanned with the optical spots, one or more diffraction optical planes 20 are disposed on the optical path of the deflected luminous fluxes which are deflected with the optical deflector 1, and a separation angle in a subscanning direction is given between two or more deflected luminous fluxes by the diffractive action of a diffraction optical plane.
