PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a displacement sensor that uses a magnetic sensing element with which linear sensitivity characteristics can be obtained over a wide range. SOLUTION: A magnetic rod 5 moves relative to a Hall IC41. In the magnetic rod 5, a ring-like magnet 53, a ceramic magnetic material permeable sleeve 57, and a ring-like magnet 55 are fitted sequentially on the outer periphery of a non-magnetic core rod 51. The magnetic material permeable sleeve 57 is molded into such special profile as a central section recesses in lamp form while recesses in step near both ends. Due to this special form, a magnetic field having linear characteristics is formed around the magnetic material permeable sleeve 57, for providing a linear sensitivity characteristic which extend over a wide displacement range.
