<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a method of selecting OLED materials so as to guarantee selection of the materials to provide a perfect display design having an optimized tradeoff between a display lifetime and a display color gamut, and a really long lifetime, when designing an OLED display. <P>SOLUTION: This method of manufacturing an improved color OLED device includes a process of identifying a plurality of different OLED materials having different chromaticity coordinates, luminance stability over time, and luminance efficiency, calculating an estimate of display lifetime for a plurality of combinations of different OLED materials used to obtain a pixel having a white point with a predetermined chromaticity coordinate and luminance, and selecting the combination having the longest lifetime. When designing this display, the color gamut and effective lifetime of the full color OLED display can be simultaneously optimized by optimizing selection of the OLED materials, that is, by taking into consideration of overall requirements for differences in luminance efficiency, luminance stability over time, and chromaticity coordinates, the display lifetime, and the color gamut used for the display. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
