<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the output image by extracting the edge in a signal space advantageous to extract the edge with high accuracy and realizing noise elimination and visually natural emphasis in a signal space advantageous to sharpness control. <P>SOLUTION: An image processor for applying prescribed processing to the input image signal and outputting the image signal is provided with an edge amount calculating part 121 for calculating an edge amount in an image from the input image signal and a sharpness control part 122 for correcting the spatial frequency with respect to the input image signal according to the edge amount.
