PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly precisely translate Katakana words into original language words.

SOLUTION: This translating device for translating Katakana words into original language words is provided with a conversion rule generating means for preparing the conversion rule of partial character string units from data where the Katakana words and original language words of a plurality of translations are made to correspond to each other with the partial character strings, a first probability model learning means for learning a probability model to calculate corresponding probability from the Katakana partial character string and the original language partial character string made to correspond to each other, a second probability model learning means for learning a probability model to calculate the occurrence probability of the original language words from the original language word data and a translation performing means for performing the translation of the inputted Katakana words into the original language words.
