PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plated palm fiber which is not degraded by microbes and can be used for a long time and a manufacturing method thereof. SOLUTION: A palm fiber having continuous pores h, h, etc., inside the fiber is dipped in an SnCl<SB>2</SB>solution and a PdCl<SB>2</SB>solution and subjected to electroless plating or electroplating to deposit e.g. a Ni plating 6 on the outer surface of the palm fiber 5 and the inner wall of the continuous pores h, h, etc. The plated palm fiber is used for e.g. antibacterial, anti-algal, water-purification and electromagnetic shield applications.
