PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultraviolet protecting cosmetic having high ultraviolet protecting effects, especially high long wavelength ultraviolet protecting effects, high transparency and a good feeling of use. SOLUTION: The ultraviolet protecting cosmetic contains the following. (A) A fine particulate metal oxide having 0.001-0.1μm average particle diameter of primary particles and an ultraviolet protecting ability and transparency of visible light, (B) a flaky zinc oxide having 0.1-1μm average size and 0.01-0.2μm average thickness and (C) polymer particles having 1-5μm average particle diameters and encapsulating the fine particulate metal oxide therein.
