<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a granular carrier for immobilizing an enzyme or a microbial cell having a large particle diameter and which can readily be produced. <P>SOLUTION: The granular carrier for immobilizing the enzyme or the microbial cell is obtained by dropping a liquid composition containing a water-soluble polymer polysaccharide having ability to gel by contact of (A) a hydrophilic photocurable resin with (B) a photopolymerization initiator and (C) an alkali metal ion or a polyvalent metal ion into an aqueous medium containing an alkali metal ion or a polyvalent metal ion to make the composition to gel in granular state, irradiating the gel with active rays and curing the gel. The hydrophilic photocurable resin (A) has at least two ethylenic unsaturated bonds and a polyoxyalkylene chain (wherein carbon number of alkylene group is 2-4) in one molecule and has 7,000-100,000 number-average molecular weight and the particle diameter of the granular carrier is within the range of 6.5 mm-20 mm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
