PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation performing an optimum route guidance, by judging automatically the intention of a user at the time of coming off from the route during the route guidance. SOLUTION: The navigation system has the following two functions. The first function for guiding the user to return to the planed running route at the time of coming off from the route during the route guidance. The second function for searching for the route newly between the present place and the destination. In the use method of each function, the above-mentioned second function is used when the point registered in advance by the user is set as a destination. On the other hand, the first above-mentioned function is used in the case of setting a new point as a destination other than the points registered by the user in advance.
