PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of lines of a line memory after decoding required for every printer engine of each print during printing-out. SOLUTION: The image processor has: a vertical filter processing means for executing filter processing at least in the vertical direction to a value of the read-in image data; a vertical filter coefficient storage means for storing a vertical filter coefficient for executing the vertical filter processing in the vertical direction; a horizontal filter processing means for executing the filter processing in the horizontal direction to the image data generated by the vertical filter processing means; an encoding means for encoding the image data generated by the horizontal filter processing means; a code storage means for successively storing a plurality of code data generated by the encoding means; and a decoding means for decoding the codes of the image data stored by the code storage means.
