<p>It is possible to stably perform trial write in a trial write area for deciding the optimal recording power. In a recording layer of spiral direction from the medium outer circumference toward the medium inner circumference, a small area of trial write is successively used in the direction from the medium inner circumference toward the medium outer circumference while in a recording layer of spiral direction from the medium inner circumference toward the medium outer circumference, a small area of trial write is successively used in the direction from the medium outer circumference toward the medium inner circumference. Thus, in either of the recording layers, it is possible to perform trial write by accessing the object small area without accessing the small area which has been already subjected to trial write (used area). Thus, it is possible to stabilize the servo control and address read. As a result, seek operation of the object small area is also stabilized and it is possible to perform stable trial write.</p> |
