<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording medium showing superb ink absorbency, resistance to coating failure and gloss, and an ink jet imaging method using the ink jet recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: The ink jet recording medium has at least two ink absorbing layers formed on an RC (resin-coated) support, and the ink absorbing layer positioned most remotely from the support is a surface layer containing a thermoplastic resin particle. The thermoplastic resin particle is an aqueous emulsion synthesized using a polyvinyl alcohol with an average degree of polymerization of 1,500 to 4,000 as a protective colloid for emulsion polymerization. The mass ratio F/B of an inorganic fine particle (F) to a water-soluble polymer (B) of the surface layer containing the thermoplastic resin particle is higher than the F/B of the ink absorbing layer positioned on the support side of the surface layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
