<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift change device for an outboard motor capable of reducing movable parts necessary for making a shift change, improving operation feel and maintenance performance, and reducing occupied space in the outboard motor. <P>SOLUTION: This shift change device is provided with an electromagnetic clutch 56 for forward motion to engage a forward gear 62 rotated by output of an engine with a propeller shaft 60, and an electromagnetic clutch 58 for reverse motion to engage a reverse gear 64 rotated by output of the engine 18 with the propeller shaft 60. By actuating either the electromagnetic clutch 56 for forward motion or the electromagnetic clutch 58 for reverse motion, the forward motion gear 62 or the reverse motion gear 64 is engaged with the propeller shaft 60 to make a shift change. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
