PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electronic camera capable of adjusting white balance in accordance with depth from a water surface at underwater photographing. SOLUTION: In this electronic still camera, a white balance adjustment coefficient is preset under water and the white balance adjustment coefficient is stored in a CPU 1 in accordance with detected water depth D (depth from water surface). The water depth D is categorized into three types: (1) 0<D≤d1, (2) d1<D≤d2, and (3) d2<D. The electronic still camera detects the water depth D in an underwater photographing mode, reads the white balance adjustment coefficient stored in the CPU 1 in accordance with the detected water depth D and uses the white balance adjustment coefficient for white balance adjustment processing to an imaging signal from an imaging device 5.
