PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device in which degree of integration of the entire device is improved without reducing aperture ratio and a high definition image is displayed based on low resolution image data. SOLUTION: An active matrix substrate of the device is a driving circuit integrated polysilicon thin film transistor substrate and is provided with a screen memory array 101 which includes a plurality of pixels, scanning signal lines and their driving circuit, data signal lines and their driving circuit, a screen memory reading section 106 which is used to read pixel display data, a display data holding section 107 which temporarily holds the data, a data processor 111 which data processes the read display data and a display data writing section 112 which rewrites processed display data.
