PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for nuclear magnetic resonance capable of removing a turned-back artifactual image without deteriorating the quality of the image. SOLUTION: The apparatus has a phase correction part 1072 for executing the phase correction process of a receiving signal of the main scanning based on a reference signal as a correction signal received when a gradient magnetic field in the direction of phase encoding is not applied to one of a plurality of receiving coils 1013, e.g. a receiving coil 10131, and a development processing part 1075 for removing a turned-back artifactual image inside an image based on the receiving signals of the plurality of receiving coils 1013 of the main scanning for which the phase correction part 1072 executes the phase correction process and the difference in distribution of sensitivity of the plurality of receiving coils 1013 produced by the calibration scanning. Accordingly, the phase correction process is executed while the relative phase relation among coils is maintained, and the development process (the removing process) is executed using the result of the phase correction process.
