Bubble pressure tensiometer

In the measurement of the dynamic surface tension of a liquid for determining the maximum bubble pressure, the minimum bubble pressure is measured to determine the hydrostatic pressure. The measurement is undertaken by hand and the volume of gas used for the measurement is dampened elastically but is essentially free of pressure variations or pulse action. The measurement is made using a measured volume of gas suitable for the process. Generation of the chosen gas volume is essentially de-coupled by a throttle from the maximum and minimum bubble pressure. Independent claims are also included for an apparatus for the above process, and the production of a laminated throttle plate (18). The throttle plate is essentially of laminated construction and is formed by photolithography, laser cutting of a surface mounted device solder paste mask, and/or metal micro-milling.
