PURPOSE: An air conditioning apparatus, and a method for controlling the same are provided to prevent lowering of a discharge temperature of a compressor by increasing a temperature of gas refrigerant sprayed to the compressor by using a refrigerant heating unit. CONSTITUTION: A compressor(10) compresses a refrigerant. A vapor/liquid separator(40) separates gas refrigerant from the refrigerant transmitted from the compressor. A refrigerant heating unit(70) heats the gas refrigerant separated by the vapor/liquid separator, and sprays the gas refrigerant into the compressor, wherein the refrigerant heating unit is installed in the middle of a branch pipe(42) connecting the vapor/liquid separator and the compressor.
