摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treatment of waste catalysts contg. chromium capable of trimerizing ethylene in the presence of chromium catalysts to obtain 1- hexene, efficiently separating the waste catalysts contg. the chromium made unnecessary after the end of the trimerization reaction from the liquid formed by the reaction to obtain high-purity 1-hexene and separating and removing the harmful chromium metal from the production process by executing a non-polluting treatment. SOLUTION: The chromium catalysts are deactivated in the state of dissolving the polymer byproduced after the end of the trimerization reaction of the ethylene in this method for treatment of the waste catalysts in the liquid formed by the reaction of 85 to 180 deg.C. Further, water is introduced into the liquid to cause the deliming of the metallic components contained in the liquid formed by reaction, by which the liquid is separated to two phases; oil phase and water phase in the reaction mixture. The oil phase is distilled and separated to obtain the 1-hexene. The remaining water phase is brought into contact with an alkaline compd. to settle the metallic components contg. the chromium in the form of hydroxide. The hydroxide is separated from the water phase and the water phase is brought into contact with an acidic compound to settle the metallic components contg. the chromium in the form of the hydroxide. The hydroxide is separated from the water phase.
