PURPOSE: A mobile terminal for generating a ring-back tone by using voice synthesis and its method are provided to allow a user to discriminate his/her ring-back tone in a crowded place by generating a voice-converted ring-back tone. CONSTITUTION: A radio transmitter/receiver(11) transmits/receives a radio signal through an antenna. A calculating/controlling unit(12) drives and controls a mobile terminal. A CODEC(13) converts a signal received from the radio transmitter/receiver(11) into a voice through a decoding process to output it to a voice output unit(17) and a voice received from a voice input unit(20) into a signal through a coding process and then transmits it to the calculating/controlling unit(12). A storing unit(14) stores a program for driving the mobile terminal, a file system and a ring-back tone generated from a digital signal processor(16). A character/voice converter(15) converts a voice-combined sentence into a voice and outputs a synthesized sound. A DSP(Digital Signal Processor)(16) receives the synthesized sound, processes it to a signal, and mixes it with an existing bell sound to generate a new ring-back tone, and stores it in the storing unit(14). The voice output unit(17) outputs the voice received from the CODEC(13) or the ring-back tone stored in the storing unit(14). An LCD(18) outputs a screen. An input unit(19) receives a phone number, menu select information, a voice-synthesized sentence, a voice synthesis mode or an existing bell sound select signal. A voice input unit(20) receives a voice and transfers it to the CODEC(13).
