Water is heated to approximately boiling point and sprayed onto the weeds via one or more optionally adjustable spray heads which can be under high pressure. The device can be a hand-held device with a small portable water reservoir or a water supply such as a hose connected to a rainwater tank. The water is heated either via a through-flow heater or in the reservoir. The device is an electric one, powered either from the mains or a generator.
